The function of expansion joints is to prevent cracks in buildings caused by climate change. The method is: you can reserve gaps at regular intervals along the length direction of the building, so that all above ground components such as roofs, walls, and floors can be disconnected. The foundation of the building does not need to be disconnected because it is buried underground and is less affected by temperature changes. It should be noted that expansion joints also have a certain size, and their width is generally 2 to 3 centimeters. The joint is filled with insulation material, and the spacing between the two expansion joints is clearly specified in the building structural specifications. If the floor plan size of a building is too long, it may be affected by thermal expansion and contraction, which may cause excessive temperature stress in the structure. At this time, you need to set a joint at a certain length of the structure to divide the building into several parts, which is called a temperature joint.
